Early maps refer to Isle of Hope in French as L'Isle Desperance. Legends abound of Pirates using the island to hide their booty, and generations of children have been digging for treasure there. Legend also says that the island was used as a place of refuge for french Huegonots fleeing persecution.
Isle of Hope has been the location of quite a few movie productions including the origingal Cape Fear and Forrest Gump. It's a great neighborhood for strolls or dog walking along the waterfront. You'll find a variety of homes from quaint bungalows to grand mansions. Because of the close proximity to the Truman Pkwy you can be in Historic Savannah in about 20 minutes. Home prices range from around 300,000 into the millions.
